My friend Srija shared this picture with me and which made me recollect the story behind it, which dates back to my hostel days in Bangalore.
Every Sunday, we'd have a weekly snack at our hostel. We looked forward to it every week. More than the snack, it was the surprise element in it that I looked forward to. Some days it's bajji, sometimes it's poha mixture, and some days it's my favorite Chur Muri.
Chur Muri was the closest to Muri Mixture that was sold at the Vizag beach. It was the closest to home, and it's my favorite snack in the world. Nothing can beat my love for Muri Mixture.
So this one day, I was late in collecting the snack from downstairs. I was always late with collecting my food because I would work late at the night and sleep in the mornings. I went downstairs to find an empty container that had some traces of chur muri. I couldn't afford to miss my favorite snack, so I ran to the kitchen, only to know that Thatha (our hostel warden) was distributing the last batch in the adjacent building.
So I ran upstairs in my building, accompanied by Srija, and I waited in anticipation for Thatha to distribute churmuri in the top floor's room. There might be some leftovers if I was lucky. We waited for a while to see Thatha come to the terrace.
He saw me and said (in Kannada), 'Ah! I knocked on your door twice! Here, take it!'
And that's when this picture was captured (in discretion). You can see how happy I was to know that there was some leftover Churmuri.
Simple pleasures!
